Thank you runners for joining us for the 2013 race! We hope you accept the 2014 challenge and join us again!
The 18.12 Challenge and 1/2 Marathon will welcome runners from all across the country and Canada for an exciting race weekend.
The Battle of 1812 was the first of two major battles that took place in Sackets Harbor during the war. As a way to honor the large military presence in our area (Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division), commemorate the anniversary of the battle, and promote distance running, we will be hosting the 18.12 Challenge (18.12 mile run) and ½ Marathon (13.1 mile run).
This one of a kind race will start on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st, 2013. The race will start in Watertown, NY and end on the historic 1812 Battlefield, overlooking beautiful Lake Ontario. Race weekend will start on August 31st with The 18.12 Challenge and 1/2 Marathon’s Expo. Runners will be able to pick-up their race packets at the Expo from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The race will start at 7:00 a.m. near Immaculate Heart Central School in Watertown, New York. Both races will start at 7:00 a.m. The 1/2 Marathon will be a certified course, and both the 1/2 Marathon and the 18.12 Challenge will be professionally timed using electronic chip timing.
THE COURSE TIME LIMITS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED THIS YEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR VOLUNTEERS AND RUNNERS.
The 18.12 Mile Course will be open for 4 hours.
The 1/2 Marathon will be open for 3 and 1/2 hours.
The 2013 race will be capped at 812 runners to ensure that all runners have a great race experience. Each race participant will receive a medal and a long-sleeved dri-fit t-shirt, commemorating the race.
